Lady A Invited To Join Grand Ole Opry

Lady A are the newest members of the Grand Ole Opry.

On Thursday (January 21), Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood were surprised with an invitation to join the Opry while filming their performance for the upcoming NBC special Grand Ole Opry: 95 Years of Country Music. Their friend and fellow country singer, Darius Rucker, was the one who delivered the exciting news.

"What can you say about three friends of yours who together have become one of the biggest groups in country music history," Rucker said in his introduction.

He continued, "...I feel so honored to stand here in the Opry House and hope they accept the invitation I am thrilled to be offering them tonight. So, what do you say, Lady A? Would you like to become members of the Opry?"

The news seemed to come as a shock to the trio as Scott immediately burst into tears while Kelley looked around in disbelief.

"This is the best surprise we could ever ask for," Scott said at the moment. "I've been coming here since I was a little girl, so to say we are honored is an understatement. We are so truly grateful to officially be a part of this amazing family."

According to a press release, Lady A's Opry membership is effective immediately. Their surprise invitation and performance will be seen on NBC's “Grand Ole Opry: 95 Years of Country Music.” The two-hour special is co-hosted by Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton and airs Sunday, February 14 at 8 p.m. CT on NBC.
