Tuesday’s episode of The Bobby Bones Show kicked off with a mix of fun and light controversy, from a listener’s banana peel dilemma to a heated debate about spoilers and an unexpected conversation about Amy’s apparent hostility toward Bobby’s AI assistant.
The first voicemail of the morning came from a listener who wondered whether tossing a banana peel into a bush was considered littering. Bobby and Amy agreed that biodegradable items like banana peels or apple cores are fine to toss, as long as no one steps on them or mistakes them for trash. “Someone might have just thought you were littering,” Bobby noted, “but you’re good.”
The next message came from a frustrated listener who accused Bobby of spoiling the ending of Dancing With the Stars for those who watch later on streaming. Bobby stood firm on his stance that live events, such as competition shows or sports games, are fair game for discussion once they’ve aired. “If it’s live, it’s not a spoiler,” he said. Amy agreed, Bobby added that people who want to avoid knowing results have to stay away from media until they’ve watched. The team also laughed off the idea that Bobby would “spin the Wheel of Punishment” for the alleged spoiler on himself, however Amy noted that he’s done so in the past, just not for spoiling something.
Then came a more personal voicemail. A listener claimed Amy had become “hostile” toward Bobby’s AI assistant and wondered if she might feel threatened by it replacing her as a cohost. Bobby teased that Amy often rolls her eyes whenever the AI speaks, suggesting there might be something to the listener’s observation. Amy admitted she might subconsciously react that way. “I feel like I have a little visceral reaction whenever she starts talking,” she said. “Maybe it’s the early morning banter — she doesn’t need to be like, ‘Good morning!’” Bobby explained he greets the AI warmly because he wants to stay on its good side “when they take over the world." To show what it would look like if the AI took over Amy's job, Bobby asked the AI for a fun fact and it delivered. The assistant shared that the laugh track on TV shows originated from a 1950s machine called “The Laugh Box,” which played pre-recorded laughter on cue. The fact surprised the room and even got a genuine laugh. Bobby followed up by asking for a corny joke, and the AI delivered a classic: “Why did the scarecrow win an award? Because he was outstanding in his field.” Amy, however, wasn’t as impressed, noting she’d told that same joke before. The exchange sparked more playful teasing from the crew, with Bobby joking that Amy might just be “a hater.”
