Charges Against Country Artist Gavin Adcock Dropped Months After His Arrest

Charges against country star Gavin Adcock have been dropped and/or dismissed following a hearing earlier this week.

Tennessee Highway Patrol officers arrested Adcock, 26, at about 11:15 p.m. on May 21. He was accused of reckless driving and a violation of open container laws, per the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office. Wilson County borders Davidson County, where Nashville is located. e was released early the next morning, on May 22, at 4:34 a.m.

Prosecutors dropped and/or dismissed the charges on Monday (August 18), PEOPLE confirmed in a report on Wednesday (August 20) after viewing court documents.

Adcock initially broke his silence on the charges when he released a song titled “Morning Bail,” which he wrote “a few months back and planned to put it out on the album, but I figured there’s no better time than now,” he said when he released the song in May. Adcock also confirmed at the time that he was driving more than 100 miles per hour when law enforcement officials pulled him over.

“I bought my dream car.. a 1973 Dodge Challenger,” Adcock wrote in a caption on Instagram in May. “Over the past few months I’ve been putting money into it, getting it running as good as new, and decided I wanted to take it for a joy ride. The car ran great. I got pulled over and arrested for reckless driving going 103 in Wilson County, TN.”
