Morgan Evans recently helped one young man take his proposal to the next level.
Mark Melendez and his girlfriend Courtney Moed started dating a little over ten years ago after meeting while working at a local supermarket. However, their combined love for country music didn’t start until a few years later on March 7, 2019, when Moed brought her boyfriend to a Dan + Shay concert in New York City featuring Evans as the opening act.
“I’ll be honest, I’ve never been the biggest country music fan, but when I saw Morgan’s set I had such an incredible time,” Melendez shared in an interview. “His honest demeanor, great attitude, and raw personality is what I really appreciated about his performance.”
Evans announced his headlining “Globe Trotting World Tour” earlier this year and right away Melendez started planning for his epic proposal. Melendez received Moed’s father’s blessing and then decided to take a chance by sending a direct message to the country star on Instagram. In the message, Melendez requested help setting up his proposal at the upcoming show to which Evans agreed.
After all his effort and planning the day had finally arrived. On Thursday, December 5, the couple attended Evan’s show in Jersey Shore. About halfway through the set, Evans invited Melendez up on stage. He announced to the crowd, “I don’t usually do this, certainly not in the middle of a song. But, there’s a fella here in the audience tonight named Mark and I want to invite him up on stage right now.”
With all the attention on Melendez and Moed who’d had made their way to the stage, the moment had finally arrived. He got down on one knee and proposed as Evans went on to finish up singing his sweet love song, “Dance With Me.”
"I'm forever grateful to Morgan and his crew for allowing me to propose in the middle of his, and our, favorite song," Melendez says. "I’m thankful to Courtney for making me feel like the luckiest person in the world, I’m very thankful to her family for supporting me with my plans, and I’m thankful to everyone who was there to live the moment with us."
“Dance With Me” comes from his 2018 debut album, Things That We Drink To and features his wife and fellow country star, Kelsea Ballerini. Evans will wrap up his tour on December 14 with a show in Columbus, Ohio. After the new year, he’ll then make his way to Hawaii where he'll open up for Old Dominion on their "Make It Sweet Tour." Tickets to the tour are available now.
